Space in accessible language: A roundtable discussion with bloggers held as part of SATCOMRUS 2025

A roundtable discussion “Satellite Communications: Conversation without censorship”, featuring editors, authors, and correspondents from leading Telegram channels about space and telecom was held in Moscow during the 30th international conference, SATCOMRUS 2025. The discussion featured Alexey Volin, General Director of RSCC, Chairman of the Industrial Competence Center (ICC) “Satellite Communications”, and Yury Urlichich, Adviser to General Director of RSCC, Chairman of the Council of the Association of Satellite Communications Market Players.

The discussion focused on the capabilities of space communications, the role of the state, and the prospects of private enterprises in the industry, among other topics.

The roundtable participants included:

• Mikhail Kotov, science journalist, cosmonautics popularizer, author of TASS News Agency and his own Telegram channel “Liftoff Contact” («Контакт подъема»);

• Ilya Ovchinnikov, space engineer, spacecraft specialist, director of Development in the company “Education of the Future” («Образование будущего»), author of the Telegram channel “Kind Ovchinnikov” («Добрый Овчинников»);
• Marat Hayrapetyan, space engineer, member of satellites’ development team, Mars simulation mission specialist, author of the project “Jura, we can do it!” («Юра, мы справимся!»), ambassador of the “Techprosvet” («Техпросвет») project at Vk.com;
• Anastasia Medvedeva, producer and journalist, ambassador and chief organizer of “Yuri’s Night” festival, author of the Telegram channel of the same name about space business and marketing news.
