Communication is established: where the Russian market of ground satellite equipment is heading, discussed by the participants of the “Business Dialogue” in Astrakhan

On August 14, a round table “Business Dialogue. Domestic satellite equipment on the Russian market” was held in Astrakhan. The event was organized by RSCC and brought together representatives of JSC “RTComm.RU”, JSC “Dozor-Teleport”, JSC “Amtel-Svyaz”, State Corporation “Rosatom”, JSC “Satellite Communications”, LLC “Avacom”, LLC “Eurocom” and LLC “InterKamService”.

General Director of RSCC Alexey Volin moderated the discussion.

The participants shared the first results of Russian-made ground equipment’s operating as well as proposals for possible improvements. Industry representatives also talked about the prospects for using domestic VSAT systems for building new networks.

“The industry's critical infrastructure facilities have almost completely switched to domestic software, Russian solutions for managing satellite constellations have been implemented and are working, as well as our own mission control centers are in place. Domestic modems have been installed, and the number of mobile satellite stations produced is in the thousands. They are absolutely competitive. However, new equipment needs to be tested before mass use. RSCC offers the opportunity to make tests on the Space Communications Center (SCC) “Bear Lakes” and invites operators to prove technologies,” said General Director of RSCC Alexey Volin. He also added that a laboratory and a test site have been opened at the SCC, which allows testing equipment created as part of the communications sovereignty strategy in real operating conditions.
