Long-distance communications: General Director of RSCC Alexey Volin spoke about new satellite technologies and services at the International Navigation Forum

RSCC together with its partners is developing several projects, including in the field of Precise Point Positioning (PPP) and navigation, General Director of RSCC Alexey Volin reported at the plenary discussion of the XVIII International Navigation Forum. The conference dedicated to the development of information technologies in the industry, as well as the specialized exhibition NAVITECH, were held on April 22 in Moscow.

"We are actively working with JSC GLONASS, in particular, on the implementation of high-precision data transmission technology for the needs of agriculture. Experiments on domestic equipment using our satellites have already shown an accuracy of 5-6 cm," said Alexey Volin. He added that another project is planned together with JSC GLONASS to obtain location data for forestry equipment and small vessels. "We see a great interest in this service in the market," emphasized General Director of RSCC. Another area of the company's activity in the field of navigation is unmanned navigation. The technology is already used on two ferries that sail in the Baltic Sea.

According to him, navigation plays a special role in Russia with its vast territory and a population of about 150 million people. "Our enterprises now need to manage various highly dynamic objects, robotic systems and, in general, be able to quickly make the right decisions. To do this, the industry must work on a new development vector to ensure a symbiosis of space technologies and the IT sphere," he is confident.

As part of the section dedicated to trends in the development of the satellite communications market, Advisor to RSCC General Director Sergey Masalov presented his report. He discussed the concept of a seamless digital space that would unite the capabilities of all space systems available in the Russian Federation.
