Satellites established themselves in the museum: renewed exposition of RSCC was opened in A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications
On April 11, on the eve of Cosmonautics Day, General Director of RSCC Alexey Volin opened the renewed exposition of the enterprise in A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications (CMC) in St. Petersburg. He presented an interactive model of RSCC orbital constellation of 12 telecommunication satellites, illustrating the work of geostationary spacecraft of the company.
Director of the CMC Sergey Ivanyuk, Head of the Department of networks and communication systems of space complexes of A.F. Mozhaysky Military-Space Academy, Doctor of Engineering, Associate Professor and Colonel Evgeny Novikov as well as cadets of the academy also attended the opening of the exhibition.
"Today, the very format of exhibitions has changed. Now it is important to combine not only static useful information, but also elements for interaction, immersing visitors in the described processes and phenomena. That is why our exhibition is equipped with an interactive display. With its help anyone can get acquainted with the telecommunications satellites of the enterprise and even try themselves as employees of the Mission Control Center. You can examine each spacecraft, see its coverage areas, characteristics, control it," said General Director of RSCC.
"The discovery of something new for us is always like a festival. We all know Yuri Gagarin, Sergei Korolev, Alexey Leonov. They formed our cosmonautics, made the country's successes known throughout the world. However, there are a huge number of specialists at the same time, whose work is not so noticeable, but no less valuable. Thanks to the new exhibition presented in our museum, we will be able to show our visitors the results of the work of these people," added Director of Central Museum of Communications.
After the welcoming speech on the opening, Alexey Volin gave an interview to the Russia-1 TV channel and answered questions from the museum guests.
In addition, on Thursday, A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications, with the support of RSCC, launched the exhibition "Space Michelangelo", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first human spacewalk. It features postage stamps, models and envelopes with space-themed drawings created by Alexey Leonov in collaboration with an artist Andrey Sokolov.
