Between sky and earth: RSCC management discussed financial performance, satellite producing, teleports renovation and other company’s results of 2024
The RSCC revenue for 2024 increased by 8% compared to last year and amounted to 15 billion rubles, said General Director of enterprise Alexey Volin summing up the results of company’s work at a management meeting on March 5th in Dubna.
“We successfully completed all the tasks for 2024, and even exceeded some plans – like the revenue plan. It was the first time that we reached 15 billion rubles mark, and I hope that we will be able to maintain the trend next year”, said Alexey Volin. In 2024, it was also possible to fully repay the credit debt, which became a beneficial factor for the financial stability of the enterprise, General Director added.
RSCC also shown itself in the Russian satellite communications market well, taking a leading position and increasing its share to 63%. The company also actively developed abroad: the number of countries in which RSCC provides its services grew from 58 to 61.
A separate topic of the meeting was the creation of promising telecommunications satellites in geostationary orbit. The construction of the fully domestic Express-AMU4 continues; now, 100% of the platform equipment and electronic component base of the payload was ordered.
Taking into account the goals of RSCC to expand the orbital system and the need to ensure a high rate of production of finished spacecraft, a fundamentally new cooperation in the industry was formed. Within its framework, two general contractors, JSC RESHETNEV and Gazprom-SPKA LLC, as well as manufacturers of devices and systems, simultaneously conduct both their own developments and joint activities along two lines of interaction. Healthy competition along with cooperation on individual projects help to increase Russia's independence from foreign components and the competitiveness of Russian solutions in the global market.
Replacing foreign software and equipment with Russian analogues was one of the main tasks of the enterprise in 2024: according to its results, the total share of import substitution for RSCC amounted to 91% (in 2023, it was only 40%), and the share of substituted software at critical infrastructure facilities reached 100%.
The enterprise paid no less attention to renovating its teleports. Thus, the territory of three space communication centers – the Khabarovsk SCC, the Zheleznogorsk SCC and the Dubna SCC – was expanded to provide the possibility of placing satellite stations of other operators and conducting joint tests. In addition, new territory is needed to locate company’s own ground complexes. Work in this direction will continue this year.
Other tasks for 2025 include continuing the creation of Express AMU4, completing the import substitution program on ground infrastructure, testing domestic solutions in the field of satellite receiving equipment, and beginning the commercial implementation of the conditional access system developed by RSCC for TV channels and pay TV operators.
