An industry of special importance: the total cost of the projects of the ICC ‘Satellite Communications’ amounted to more than 12 billion rubles

Programs totaling 12.26 billion rubles are being developed by the participants of the ICC ‘Satellite Communications’ with an average implementation progress of 89.9%. This was told by Alexey Volin, General Director of RSCC, chairman of the relevant ICC, at the Demo Day of the Industrial Competence Center. The event was held on October 3 as part of the SATCOMRUS 2024 conference in Yaroslavl.

He listed particularly significant projects that are in the work of the companies that are part of the Center. Among them:

  • The creation of the domestic satellite Express-AMU4, which should become part of the plan to upgrade the Russian orbital constellation and protect the country's orbital frequency resource.
  • Development of a conditional access system, which will be used to protect against unauthorized access and manage digital rights. In the near future, it is planned to conduct a series of regular field tests with potential consumers of services.
  • Manufacturing of a hardware and software complex for satellite management (replacement of outdated and imported equipment), which will ensure technological sovereignty in the management of existing and future spacecraft of RSCC.
  • Development of a special hardware and software complex for analyzing signals in satellite TV broadcasting channels. The solution is already in a high state of readiness.

According to him, among the immediate tasks facing the ICC is the launch of its own solution for domestic encoding of the satellite signal. ‘Unlike some of our colleagues who are engaged in this kind of development, we definitely do not plan to impose regulations that would oblige everyone to buy one solution from a certain manufacturer: we are in favor of healthy competition in the industry,’ commented the chairman of ICC ‘Satellite Communications’. And if certain bureaucratic barriers in the work of the Center are removed, and the need of reporting is greatly reduced, the number of particularly significant and initiative projects of ICC will be significantly expanded, he added.

Pavel Tatarenko, Deputy General Director of RSCC, Head of the Information Technology Service, as well as Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Competence Center ‘Satellite Communications’, also took part in the event. He moderated the Demo Day. According to him, the main task of ICC is to unite the leading companies in the Russian space communications industry, developers, suppliers and major customers of satellite services into a community. It must promote the development and support of domestic import substitution solutions, help to analyze the market, shape the IT landscape and project requirements.

Also among the participants of the Demo Day was Evgeny Buidinov, Deputy General Director of RSCC, who spoke about the delivery of precise-point-positioning information via satellite communication channels.
