Runet with Space Power: RSCC wins 2023 Runet Prize for Contribution to the Internet Development
The Russian Satellite Communications Company won the 2023 Runet Prize and was ranked among the TOP 10 companies that have made the greatest contribution to the development of the Internet industry in Russia over the past 20 years. The prize was awarded at the official ceremony held on 15 December in Moscow. The company’s Director General Alexey Volin attended the event.
“Our satellites provide access to the Internet on land, water and in the air. Spacecraft are the only way to cover 80% of the country's territory. And satellites are the only way to access the Internet on airplanes and ships. We are very pleased, that today we provide the Internet access almost throughout the globe – from the Northern Sea Route and shift camps in the taiga to polar stations in Antarctica,” said Alexey Volin during the award ceremony.
Yandex, VK, Rostelecom, 1C, GRFC, RIPN, RuCenter, QTECH, Eltex were also among the Top-10 companies. Apart from the companies, the prize was also awarded to outstanding Top-10 people contributing to the transformation of the Russian segment of the worldwide network.
The ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Presidential Directorate for the Development of Information and Communication Technology and Communication Infrastructure Tatyana Matveyeva, State Duma Deputy Alexander Khinshtein, General Director of ANO Digital Economy Sergey Plugotarenko, Director of the RAEC Sergey Grebennikov, and heads of telecom companies and banks.
The Runet Prize is a national award in the field of high technology and the Internet. It is awarded to leading companies and individuals who help develop the Russian segment of the Internet. 15 December marked the 20th anniversary of the Runet Prize awarding.
