With space precision: RSCC and GLONASS JSC agree upon joint implementation of projects on satellite precise point positioning

Russian Satellite Communications Company and GLONASS JSC will develop joint programs in satellite positioning, monitoring, navigation, as well as communications and broadcasting. The relevant agreement was signed between Alexey Volin, RSCC Director General, and Alexey Raikevich, Director General of GLONAS JSC, on June 15 in St. Petersburg within the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023.

The companies are going to develop location technologies for land, sea and river objects, as well as carry out research, consultations, and share information to test new services.

"We in Russian Satellite Communications Company are very happy about this step. RSCC and GLONASS JSC are already implementing a joint project on the use of precise point positioning technology in the operation of farming machinery. And I am confident that with the new agreement, there will be even more such useful products in the area of transportation, mining, agriculture, geodetic surveying, and other spheres. The RSCC space infrastructure composed of 12 geostationary satellites, in its turn, will provide reliable communication for their operations," noted Alexey Volin.

Director General of Russian Satellite Communications Company has also added that this technology is in high demand now: due to the refusal of a number of foreign companies to provide their solutions in the territory of Russia, the market demand for domestic products in the field of high-precision navigation has increased. The Director General of GLONASS agrees with this.

"Such solutions in our country were previously provided by foreign companies only that have announced their withdrawal from the Russian market. Based on domestic technologies, we have developed our own service, which has already been successfully tested on the Northern Sea Route from Murmansk to the Laptev Sea. The use of satellite communications by Russian Satellite Communications Company will enable the use of the Russian solution in the Arctic, the Far North and generally - throughout Russia," said Alexey Raikevich.
