From manufactory to space: Top managers of RSCC, RKS and Yaroslavl Radio Plant discuss using fully domestic hardware in Russian satellites
The delegation of Russian Satellite Communications Company consisting of General Director Alexey Volin, his deputies Ekaterina Troitskaya and Vasily Sychev, as well as Vladimir Zarubin, Director for Space Programs and Projects, visited the Yaroslavl Radio Plant (part of the Russian Space Systems JSC, or RKS).
The RSCC management met with Sergey Yakushev, the plant's CEO, and Sergey Subbotin, Technical Director. From RKS, the talks were attended by Gennady Erokhin, CEO, and Alexander Kondrashov, Chief Designer.
The parties discussed new approaches to the manufacture of spacecraft and the production of necessary components to ensure technological independence from foreign developers. The main topic of the talks, in particular, was the issue of production of the first fully domestic communications satellite "Express-AMU4" by RSCC. RKS and the Yaroslavl Radio Plant are expected to produce onboard equipment for the new spacecraft based on most advanced Russian technologies. "Express-AMU4" is created in cooperation with more than 10 Russian enterprises.
After the meeting, the RSCC delegation visited several plant workshops for preparation, development, assembly, installation and testing of electronic and radio equipment.
