Good hopes of African satellite communications: RSCC showcases its satellite solutions at AfricaCom 2022

Representatives of Russian Satellite Communications Company took part in AfricaCom 2022 exhibition in Cape Town. AfricaCom 2022 is one of the key events in the African region on the digital economy and development of communication technologies.

After two years of virtual meetings, the prestigious annual event brought together heads of satellite and technology companies, consultancy and telecom experts, and representatives of African authorities and investors. The exhibition was visited by 15 thousand participants in three days.

Demand for satellite services keeps growing in Africa, as digitalization of the continent cannot be accomplished by terrestrial networks alone without the use of satellites. Space communications will play an important role in bridging the gap in the consumption of telecom services in Africa; the main growth drivers of the regional telecom market are also television and video content delivery, which are only possible with GSO satellites.

RSCC presented to its partners a whole range of satellite solutions applicable throughout the African continent: building communication networks for corporate and government sectors, services for operators as well as coverage of the African audience with satellite TV broadcasting and Internet access using Express-AM8, Express-AM7 and Express-AM6 satellites. As part of the event, RSCC held talks with current and prospective customers operating in Africa. Negotiations were also held with suppliers of ground equipment. Currently, Ku- and C-band RSCC services in the East, North and South African regions, including the RSCC C-band bandwidth in collaboration with emerging terrestrial 5G networks in the region, are of high demand.

For already 15-year AfricaCom has been combining a technology festival, exhibition and conference. The event also includes the Africa Tech Festival Awards (formerly AfricaCom Awards), which recognize outstanding business leaders and companies in the technology and telecommunications industry.
