Along the Silk Road with a satellite: RSCC offers options for satellite TV broadcasting in Uzbekistan

The event was timed to coincide with the visit to Russia of Uzbekistan’s president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and became an opinion-sharing platform. Themes: media, equal access to information and expansion of cultural dialogue between two countries.

According to Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Bella Cherkesova, relations between Russia and Uzbekistan have withstood the test of time, and are on the upswing now. “The economic contacts of our countries are expanding, cooperation between presidents, governments and parliaments is significantly strengthening, cultural and humanitarian ties are on the rise,” she added. Dialogue in such spheres as education, information, and telecommunications is also developing.

At the event, RSCC presented its solutions and infrastructure capabilities to support television broadcasting in Uzbekistan. This year a new Express-80 satellite was put into operation at 80° East, carrying 18 transponders in the C-band and 20 in the Ku-band, said Alexey Vdovin, RSCC Head of Business Development. These satellites with high-energy characteristics cover both the territory of Uzbekistan and the neighboring states. The broadcasting can be offered in both SD and HD formats.

RSCC has also a solid experience in arranging broadcasts of state-owned and commercial television platforms. It implies direct satellite broadcasting, delivery of TV programs using satellite channels to cable telecom operators, terrestrial TV and radio broadcasting network in Russia and beyond.

Alexey Vdovin adds: “Based on this experience, we are ready to assist Uzbekistan in building their own satellite television platform”.

Representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan also noted the demand for the Russian operator’s satellite solutions in Uzbekistan. In particular, Asadjon Khodjaev, Director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, said that the republic aimed to develop its information environment, using solutions of the other countries that could lead to qualitative reforms in the industry.
