RSCC arranges online round table to discuss role and place of satellite communications in IoT market as part of Russian Week of High Technologies

At the round table, experts and representatives of the industry community will discuss the role of satellite communications in the IoT ecosystem, the status of IoT standardization, as well as the prospects for the growth of satellite technologies in the IoT industry.

The spread of the Internet of Things in the coming years will significantly affect the configuration of the current telecom market as a whole. On top of the startups planning to launch various LEO systems of small and ultra-small communication satellites to provide services in the IoT segment, big players are also scrutinizing the market. In Russia, this area of thrust is going to be tackled by the Marathon IoT / M2M multi-satellite system, which is part of the Sphere Subprogram being pursued by the Roscosmos State Corporation. Potentially, the RSCC infrastructure may be used to accommodate the ground segment of this system. In addition, RSCC is considering options of participating in a number of international projects for the experimental development of satellite IoT technologies.

Participation in the event is free by prior registration. Registration is available by email at pmorozova@rscc.ru until October 30, 2020. The online roundtable starts at 13:00 Moscow time and will last between one and a half to two hours. The preliminary program can be found at https://www.sviaz-expo.ru/ru/events
