RSCC acts as a partner of the TeleMultiMedia Forum 2020: Digital Media Leaders

The event was also attended by representatives of major content market players of Russia and the CIS, including Rostelecom, Tricolor, Media Alliance, RBC TV, NTV - PLUS, Megogo Russia, and Okko.

Central on the forum agenda was the panel discussion on Digital media sphere today and tomorrow: a look into the future of the televisiion, media and telecommunications industry through the prism of merging content distribution channels and media services into a single digital environment. The attendees discussed the major trends in media consumption in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and the importance of telecom operators in emerging ecosystems in the media market. The speakers shared their respective visions of the main drivers for advancing media services. The discussion concentrated considerably on the prospects for the development of high-quality Russian content.

Speaking on behalf of the RSCC, Sergey Plotnikov, Director of the RSCC Department of Infocommunication Technologies and Multimedia Services, stressed the role of satellite communications in the context of the evolving OTT environment, emphasizing the high probability of a complete change in the telecom and media market landscape in the near term, when only several players will remain on the market capable of building their own ecosystems and  allowing users to access various information and entertainment media, while ensuring a seamless transition between a variety of platforms.

Participants in the discussion also addressed difficulties relating to the methodology of media measurements and the possibility of developing data transparency in the market, as well as the issues arising from the growth of content consumption on pirate resources.
