About Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications

Intersputnik was established in 1971 under the Agreement on Establishment of the International System and Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications. It is an international organization headquartered in Moscow. The Organization’s objective is to promote the strengthening and development of economic, scientific and cultural relations through communication, radio- and TV broadcasting via the artificial satellites orbiting the Earth, and to ensure the cooperation and coordination of efforts between the member states to design, create, operate and develop the international satellite communications system.  A government of any state sharing the principles of the Organization can become a member of Intersputnik.  Intersputnik currently consists of 26 member states.

Intersputnik operates the international satellite communications system, provides the frequency and energy resource through the geostationary orbit telecommunications satellites of various satellite systems to the telecoms providers and corporate users, and offers a full package of services related to creation and using the satellite network via its subsidiary Isatel.

In the context of the long-term cooperation with the Russian Satellite Communications Company, Intersputnik provides services to its customers using the Express series satellites. The Organization is an official distributor of satellite resources and services of the European satellite operator Eutelsat. It markets and sells the satellite capacity of such operators as ABS, Intelsat, Gazprom Space Systems, Azercosmos, and cooperates with other regional and domestic satellite communication providers.

Being an intergovernmental organization, Intersputnik released its own orbit frequency resource in some positions of the geostationary orbit, which is used to implement the projects of new satellite communication systems together with interested partners.
