RSCC is a strategic partner of the Digital Forum "Communication Networks, Content and Digital Services in Russia against COVID-19"
Deputy Minister for Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Oleg Ivanov took part in the Forum, as well as executives and specialists of major telecom companies, including Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon, Yandex, Huawei Eurasia, Google Russia etc. RSCC was represented at the Forum by Sergey Plotnikov, Director of Infocommunication Technologies and Multimedia Services.
Among the main topics of the first session and the entire event are the growth dynamics in traffic consumption during self-isolation period, the increased load on telecom networks and the response to the crisis by operators, content producers and regulatory authorities. According to experts, traffic increased by 30-40% on average during the month of self-isolation. The greatest increase was recorded in the educational and entertainment content segments. This increase is noted by both operators and producers of content as well as major digital services. However, content providers show willingness to adapt content to the increased volume of consumption.
Sergey Plotnikov took part in the discussions of the session "How to spend unexpected or increased free time?". Its participants discussed changes in the volume and profile of digital content consumption while constantly being at home, the innovations in the digital entertainment industry and the demand for premium content. Experts also emphasized that the industry does not see a decline in demand and does not feel the crisis in full, but it is highly dependent on the purchasing power of the Russian viewers, and may suffer after the end of quarantine measures, when subscribers will no longer be at home permanently, and the purchasing power will decrease.
