RT and Romantis together with RSCC arrange for signal transmission from the 11th BRICS Summit via the Express AM8 satellite
Express AM8 spacecraft is located at 14° W, the westernmost point of the RSCC orbital constellation. The satellite was developed by ISS-Reshetnev Company in collaboration with Thales Alenia Space and placed into orbit in 2015.
"Express AM8 satellite has unique characteristics and coverage areas, which allow the broadcasting of heavy video content in HD and ultra HD formats for users in Latin American countries and enable arranging for TV streaming for the benefit of European and Russian radio and television companies towards Latin America – Europe,” Ksenia Drozdova, Deputy Director General RSCC, noted.
Alexander Galauz, Head of the IT and Communications Directorate of RT, underlined, “The optimal coverage area and configuration of the Express AM8 beams made it possible to promptly arrange for high-speed data bridge between Russia and Latin America for the RT television channel. We worked closely with our partners in a concerted effort to conduct yet another real-time streaming to a high standard.”
“We’re happy to participate again in cooperation with our partners in covering important global political events involving top public officials,” Dmitry Belyayev, Director General of OOO Romantis, said. “The operational control of mobile satellite stations in the course of streaming was exercised using the equipment of the Romantis remote monitoring center located in Brazil.”
