Konstantin Noskov and Oleg Dukhovnitsky toured the Skolkovo Space Communications Center
The top executives of the industry familiarized themselves with the work of the Skolkovo SCC, examined the teleport antenna complex and the main control room of the SCC, from where the TV programs are loaded and monitored and the programming stations for the satellite are controlled. The Skolkovo guests were familiarized with the upgraded Mission Control Center, which provides monitoring and control of the RSCC spacecraft, as well as with the recently opened exhibit dealing with the RSCC and the history of satellite broadcasting in Russia.
RSCC Director General Yuri Prokhorov spoke about the main activities of the Company, drawing particular attention to the industry’s leadership on projects implemented in the field of digital broadcasting, broadband access in hard-to-reach regions and offshore facilities using satellite communication systems, as well as on the successful work of the Russian satellite operator on international markets. The guests familiarized themselves with the current status of efforts to build and prepare for orbiting new spacecraft (including the Express-80 and Express-103). They also discussed the prospects for the development of Express-RV, a communication system in the highly elliptical orbits.
The Skolkovo Satellite Communications Center (SCC) was founded in October 2003. It has state-of-the-art equipment to support digital direct satellite broadcasting. Skolkovo SCC addresses the tasks of ensuring the delivery of packages of commercial television satellite platforms (NTV-Plus, National Satellite Company / Tricolor, Satellite TV) via direct television broadcasting satellites to the European territory of the Russian Federation and Siberia. Specialists from the Skolkovo SCC also participate in the mission control of the RSCC direct broadcasting satellites.
The modernized RSCC Mission Control Center (MCC) will be deployed in the Skolkovo SCC in 2019. It ensures increased reliability and sustainability of controlling the RSCC’s own satellite constellation. A new unified and standardized system of communication and data transmission based on domestic network equipment created in the upgraded MCC allows flexible use of the RSCC’s ground-based facilities to control existing and prospective satellites. The premises in the Shabolovka Technical Center in Moscow, previously occupied by the RSCC Mission Control Center, are planned to be used for the development of the RSCC Communication Satellite Control Center (CSCC).
