At Arctic: Territory of Dialogue Forum RSCC provided connectivity for an online broadcast from the nuclear icebreaker 50 Years of Victory

On Day 1 of the Forum at the Rosatom stand, Captain Leonid Irlitz, Advisor to the Atomflot Director General, spoke about the control center technologies to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yury Trutnev, Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, Deputy Minister Alexey Besprozvannykh of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, as well as other high-ranking officials. In the course of the report, a video conference was organized with the captain of the icebreaker 50 Years of Victory, who reported on the current situation. Simultaneously, an online broadcasting was arranged to show the environment surrounding the vessel from video cameras installed on the bow and stern of the icebreaker.

The icebreaker 50 Years of Victory is currently providing pilotage in the Ob Bay area. Broadband communication on the ship is provided through the satellite communications channel of RSCC’s VSAT.

An innovative solution based on maritime VSAT technology using Russia’s current fleet of up-to-date satellites of the Express-AM series enables RSCC to provide a wide range of digital communication and broadcasting services on board ships of various classes and purposes. The maritime segment of the RSCC VSAT network covers the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, the Mediterranean, Baltic, North, Black, Caspian seas and the Seas of Japan and Okhotsk and all the northern seas Russia borders on (including almost the entire length of the Northern Sea Route). Communications are available up to 80 ° N. Currently, the RSCC VSAT network covers more than 280 ships. The VSAT network operates in the Ku-band, but the C-band is also available for addressing certain tasks.
