RSCC and Isatel LLC have signed agreement to provide satellite broadband services in the Far East

Yuri Prokhorov, RSCC Director-General, and Igor Zabolotny, Isatel LLC Director-General, have signed an agreement to implement a pilot project intended to provide satellite-supported broadband access to Internet in the Far East in the new Ка-band. Isatel LLC, a subsidiary of Intersputnik, becomes the third operator offering broadband access services to information resources in the Ka-band using the Express-АМ5 satellite in the eastern segment of RSCC’s satellite broadband access system.

In the framework of the current cooperation between RSCC and Intersputnik, RSCC provides control services for the ground infrastructure of Isatel LLC. It is planned to complete by the end of 2016 a stage-by-stage transition of the Isatel LLC ground infrastructure to the RSCC technical facilities, namely the Vladimir Satellite Communications station in Gus-Khrustalny in the Vladimir Region. Such transfer of the Isatel LLC ground assets will enhance reliability and quality of services, optimize ground infrastructure maintenance costs and expand the range of communications services for the Intersputnik member countries and other customers of the Intersputnik Group.

Yuri Prokhorov, RSCC Director-General, says: “We give a lot of attention to the satellite-supported high-speed access to internet in the Ka-band on board the new Russian Express-АМ5 and the Express-АМ6 satellites. We hope the agreement will contribute to promoting competition in the field of broadband access for the benefit of private users and business in general.

Vadim Belov, Intersputnik Director-General, stressed that “the signing of the agreement between Intersputnik’s subsidiary and RSCC, its strategic partner, opens up a new page in the history of our longstanding and successful cooperation. I am confident that the new agreement will serve to make our interaction more effective and facilitate provision to users in the Far East of sustainable high-quality services of RSCC, the country’s leading satellite communications operator using the resources of Isatel LLC.”
