SATELLITE 2012: RSCC ATTENDS INTERNATIONAL SATELLITE EXHIBITION AND CONFERENCE

From 12-15 March 2012, Washington D.C. played host to Satellite 2012, the industry’s largest international exhibition and conference. RSCC, Russia’s national satellite communications operator, has participated for the third time. RSCC displayed its exhibit, and the Company representatives took part in the panel discussion of the main Conference section entitled «Creating the Next Big Four: How is the Paradigm Changing?»

Russia, Moscow, 20 March 2012. From 12-15 March 2012, Washington D.C. played host to Satellite 2012, the industry’s largest international exhibition and conference. RSCC, Russia’s national satellite communications operator, has participated for the third time. RSCC displayed its exhibit, and the Company representatives took part in the panel discussion of the main Conference section entitled «Creating the Next Big Four: How is the Paradigm Changing?»

According to analysts from Space News, RSCC today as number 8-9 among the world’s operators. The Conference organizers offered opportunities to share their visions concerning the global trends in satellite communications to top-level executives of such companies as SkyPerfect JSat Group (Japan), Star One (Brasil), Hispasat (Spain), RSCC (Russia) and Arabsat (Saudi Arabia), all of them belonging to the top ten of the rating immediately following the top four prime leaders of the world’s satellite communications.  

RSCC CEO Yuri Prokhorov said the following about RSCC’s prospects in the international markets: «In the next few years we plan to considerably expand the geographic boundaries of our international sales, including the South American region. At Satellite 2012 we conducted concrete negotiations with our partners regarding the implementation of our plans to use the capacity of the new Express-АМ8 satellite.»

In the course of negotiations at the RSCC exhibit, the Company officials and their multiple international partners discussed topical issues relating to the use of the RSCC’s current and prospective satellite capacity, collaboration in building new spacecraft and network development based on VSAT technologies, as well as advancement of Ка-band in Russia.

Specifically, agreements were reached with the Romantis group, an international provider of satellite capacity and hardware for communications networks, on further cooperation in the RSCC satellite capacity utilization, provision of VSAT services and equipment and supplementary services in, among other places, North and South America, and the transatlantic region. As RSCC’s strategic partner, Romantis will proceed with the promotion of the Express-АМ8 capacity in the Americas.
