On May 25, 2021 a digital round table meeting "Satellite Communications for Development of Siberia and the Far East" was held under the auspices of Connect Publishing House in partnership with Russian Satellite Communications Company.
Experts and leaders of satellite operators, manufacturers of satellite equipment and regional authorities discussed the role of satellite communications in solving tasks of governmental administration, economic and social development in the isolated remote regions of Russia. Russian Satellite Communications Company was represented by Mikhail Glinka, Head of corporate and operators’ solutions sales department, who took part in this round table.
The main topic of the round table was the discussion of new digital opportunities provided by the Russian satellite communications and broadcasting constellation for companies in Siberia and the Far East. This includes establishing a sustainable data transmission system and providing information services in the isolated remote areas of the Far North, Siberia and the Far East, providing communication services in the Arctic region, enhancing the monitoring system for hazardous industrial facilities, and creating a transport infrastructure monitoring system.
Within the second part of the event, discussing the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, the panel members agreed that the satellite communications industry played a key role in supporting full-fledged daily activities in severe isolated environments. Due to satellite communications, people living in remote areas of our country were provided an opportunity to communicate with educational and medical institutions, colleagues, friends and relatives.
