The delegates of the joint session elected the Chairman of the Council, approved the financial plan for 2017 and reviewed the implementation of the program to further develop the Intersputnik International Satellite Communications Organization.
On November 15-16, 2016 Moscow hosted the joint 24th session of the Intersputnik Council and the 19th meeting of its Operations Committee. The event was attended by official representatives of the governments of the Intersputnik member countries and by members of the Operations Committee.
RSCC was represented at the joint session by General Director Yuri Prokhorov, Deputy General Director for Business Development Ksenia Drozdova, and head of the Department of Television and International Sales Lyudmila Mikhailina.
The joint session was timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of Intersputnik. On this occasion Intersputnik received multiple congratulatory messages. Such messages came from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union, and the UN Under Secretary-General.
In his congratulatory message, RSCC General Director Yuri Prokhorov said that Intersputnik "brilliantly implements both public and commercial projects of the member states, engaging not only in the operator business, but also in complex and painstaking work of international coordination of frequency assignments to GEO satellite networks. We appreciate cooperation with Intersputnik in promoting and implementing satellite-based communication and broadcasting services using RSCC satellites of the Express series in Russia and the CIS, Europe, Middle East, India, Pakistan, as well as in Africa and South East Asia."
The delegates of the joint session elected Gennady Kudryavtsev Chairman of the Council, the supreme governing body of the Intersputnik. They also discussed the results of Intersputnik activities in the period under review and approved the financial plan for the year 2017.
