The project to set up a Center for Geolocation and Space Monitoring is being implemented by RSCC in conjunction with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINC) in Dubna using the facilities of the Dubna University of Nature, Society and Man. It is expected that the Center will go a long way towards developing systems for geolocation and SW/HW complexes to determine coordinates of interference sources for satellite communications and broadcasting, in the interests, inter alia, of RSCC satellite capacity users.
Collaboration with the Dubna University and JINC in this area is an important element of the RSCC Innovative Development Program. Under the Program, RSCC participates in technology platforms and innovation clusters, and interacts with research entities and universities.
RSCC General Director, Yuri Prokhorov, points to a whole array of tasks that can be tackled on the bases of such Center, including efforts to enhance efficiency of the SW/HW complexes to control spacecraft and identify sources of interference. He also expressed hope that the joint initiative of RSCC, JINC and Dubna University will continue in such aspects as the training of skilled specialists for the satellite communications industry.
