RSCC has belonged to the RCC’ Council of Telecommunications Operators founded in 1997 which unites the largest telecommunications companies of RCC’ participant countries. Bugaenko, the Head of the Federal Communications Agency. After discussing the state of the satellite communications development in the RCC’ participant countries, the RCC’ Council of the Administration Heads noted that the technological progress in the field of satellite communications shall promote the solution of the digital divide problem as well as help to gain real access to broadband frequency resource. The Council charged the RCC’ profile commissions with working out proposals aimed at providing the RCC’ countries with necessary orbital frequency resources.
In the context of the event, an agreement between the Administration of Russia and International Organization of Space Communications “Intersputnik” was signed according to which Russia will execute functions of an Applicant Administration in terms of frequency assignment to Intersputnik’s satellite communications networks and will act in the International Telecommunications Union as Applicant for orbital slots for those satellites which will be developed and launched by Intersputnik.
At the meeting of the RCC’ Council of the Administration Heads, I.O. Tschegolev received unanimous support and was re-elected as the Chairman of the Council for the next term.
“We have discussed a number of questions concerning the information society, as a whole, and specific technologies, in particular as well as co-operation in the field of the satellite communications development and digital TV” - informed the Head of the Ministry for communications and mass media of Russia. We believe that the results achieved to this meeting will allow us to expect our countries continuously improving their ranks in international ratings. And it will certainly be appreciable by our citizens”.
