Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev visited the Zheleznogorsk Space Communications Center (SCC)

On 14 March 2018, the Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev visited the Zheleznogorsk SCC in his capacity of a constituency agent of Vladimir Putin, a candidate for President of the Russian Federation. The guest was told about the RSCC and the SCC and their tasks and development plans. He toured the facility and met with the SCC staff.


Sergei Krikalev is a Soviet and Russian cosmonaut, Hero of the Soviet Union, and the first Hero of the Russian Federation. He is one of the four persons in Russia to be awarded both titles, and the only Russian who has flown into space six times where he spent a total of 803 days. He was the first Russian on the first joint US-Russian mission on a reusable spaceship (Shuttle Discovery), and the first Russian to have traveled to the ISS on board the Endeavor Shuttle for a short-term mission. In addition, Krikalev is Executive Director for manned space programs of Roskosmos State Corporation and full member of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named for K.E. Tsiolkovsky.
