Space briefing: RSCC CEO Alexey Volin spoke during Space Week

27,000 communities in Russia, each with a population of 50 to 100 people, can be provided with connectivity and video services only via satellite. This was announced by Alexey Volin, General Director of the Russian Satellite Communications Company, at the National Center «Russia» in Krasnoyarsk, which was one of the key venues for Space Week.

In his welcoming address at the forum, Krasnoyarsk region Governor Mikhail Kotyukov noted the importance of satellite infrastructure for the country’s development. He stated that without the Russian orbital satellite constellation, many areas of the Krasnoyarsk region would simply have no communications.

"GEO satellites are of special importance in areas where oil, gas, and non-ferrous metals are extracted, as fiber optic cables are not available there. The Far North remains a strategically important region for communications. "Four Express-RV satellites are planned for launch into high elliptical orbit. RSCC has already installed four antennas at the Zheleznogorsk teleport to support the operation of these spacecraft," said Alexey Volin.

The CEO of RSCC emphasized the company's focus on achieving its goals, maintaining technological leadership, and developing the industry. Currently, RSCC has ordered the manufacture of eight domestic geostationary communications and television broadcasting satellites from JSC RESHETNEV. To ensure high-quality work, a cooperation between organizations has been established; its number of participants is comparable to the population of a regional city.

The plenary session was also attended by Ivan Danilov, Deputy CEO of the Roscosmos State Corporation; Mikhail Valov, CEO of JSC RESHETNEV; Alexander Soldatov, Deputy CEO of JSC NPP Radiosvyaz; and S.S. Gubkin, Director of the S.S. Dmitry Markovich Kutateladze, Head of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Kirill Peskov, a Russian cosmonaut-tester with the Yuri Gagarin Research Center for Space Research.

Following the discussion, the Krasnoyarsk region Governor led the guests through the exhibition section of the "Russia" National Center, which showcased the region's main companies and universities involved in space technology production and cosmonaut training, as well as models of rockets and spacecraft.

During events marking Space Week, Mikhail Kotyukov presented certificates of honor to employees of the Zheleznogorsk Space Communications Center. The center's specialists received awards for their long-term dedicated work and high professionalism.
