Validated by youth: participants of the International Festival of Youth from 191 countries had the opportunity to verify that RSCC’s satellites cover their countries

During the International Festival of Youth in Yekaterinburg, the exhibit of Russian Satellite Communications Company attracted the attention of over 7,000 participants. The company’s stand was also visited by the First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Chief of Staff of the Government Executive Office Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Bella Cherkesova, Governor of the Kamchatka Region Vladimir Solodov and the Head of the Krasnoyarsk Region Mikhail Kotyukov.

School and university students from Argentina, India, China, Bangladesh, South Sudan, Serbia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Nepal, Algeria, Morocco, Lesotho, and other countries took photos and filmed videos with mock‑ups of spacecraft at the company’s stand. In addition, RSCC exhibition became part of a special tour for 1,000 children — participants in the “Dvizhenie Pervih”.

Using an interactive panel, anyone could study the satellite coverage areas. The participants confirmed that RSCC’s signal is available worldwide — the coverage area include 81.4% of the Earth and all continents.

Alexey Volin, General Director of RSCC, noted that the exhibition helps young people not only to learn more about the structure of satellites and their role in the digital world, but also to ask questions that interest them — about the spacecraft and about careers in the space industry.

“Today, an increasing number of young people are showing interest in working in the space industry. However, interest alone is not enough. The guidance and direction are essential. This will enable the industry to attract competent and proactive specialists, who understand modern challenges and know the direction in which they want to develop,” said Alexey Volin.
