RSCC is the state satellite operator of Russia and takes the sixth place among the world satellite operators in terms of orbital slots and frequency resources. On 28 January 2008, RSCC successfully launched the new telecommunications satellite Express-AM33 that became the first spacecraft of the Program of renovating and developing the company’s satellite constellation till 2015. APSCC has questioned Yuri Izmailov, the company’s Director General, about the 40th anniversary of the one of the oldest world satellite operators, about the main outcomes of RSCC’ activity during the last 12 months as well as about the satellite constellation development.

RSCC is rapidly growing its international business. The global interest could be a driver for RSCC's aggressive launch plan, which includes lofting 15 satellites into orbit by 2015. RSCC plans to hang onto its Eutelsat shares as it believes selling them would only achieve a short-term result. RSCC duputy director general Igor Zabolotny said: "We take part in the Board of Directors and can discuss the issues of business development and cooperation. The dividend policy of Eutelsat suits us and we have no plan to sell shares in the near future."

Russian Satellite Communications Company ("RSCC") intends to become the first Russian satellite communications operator to trade transceiving capacities of its spacecraft on "The London Satellite Exchange" ("E-sax"). RSCC will sign an agreement with E-sax. Until recently E-sax has apprehended to work with Russian satellites. E-sax considered the satellites to be accident-sensitive. According to RSCC the agreement will be signed with E-sax in the course of annual Conference of Operators, which will be held in the town of Dubna, Moscow vicinity, 17-18 April. The financial aspect of the transaction has not been disclosed.

"Sumitomo", financial industrial group (Japan), undertook to share financial risks under the project for renovation of Russian communications satellite constellation. This is how the Japanese promote their compatriots (NEC corporation) in the local market. "NEC" corporation will supply the equipment for new communications satellites. "NEC" will supply the hardware to the amount guaranteed by Sumitomo - $ 123 mln USD.
