On the 16th March 2004, Russian Satellite Communications Company - a Russian national satellite communications operator, and Eutelsat - a major French satellite communications operator, signed a long-term leasing contract for 12 transponders on new Russian communications and broadcasting Express-AM22 satellite at 53 E.

On the 9th March 2004, a new communications and broadcasting EXPRESS-AM22 entered operation at 53 E. GEO and is added to the RSCC fleet. IOT of the satellite launched 29 December 2003 was successful, on-board systems are in normal operation, the satellite performance comply with the specified parameters. EXPRESS-AM22 offers the capacity for communications and broadcasting across Russia (from Kaliningrad to the Urals), CIS countries, Europe, Middle East, North Africa.

On 29 December 2003, the Express-AM22 communications and broadcasting satellite was successfully launched from BAIKONUR launching pad. It is expected to deploy the spacecraft at 53 E. GEO. Different satellite systems were tested during 01 - 10 January 2004.

The EXPRESS-AM22 satellite launched from Baikonur launching pad into orbit aboard Proton launch vehicle on 29 December, 2003. The new satellite will be deployed at 53 E GEO. The EXPRESS-AM22 is expected to be operational following in-orbit tests, and all on-board systems trials.

EXPRESS-AM22 satellite will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome by Proton launch vehicle on the 29th of December 2003, at 02:00 a.m. (MSK). RSCC will provide the launch on-line video at www.rscc.ru

On the 29th of December 2003, at 02:00 a.m. Moscow Time, Proton launch vehicle will deliver the EXPRESS-AM22 communications and broadcasting satellite into transfer orbit. The new satellite is planned to be positioned at 53 E GEO. Following in-orbit tests and on-board systems trials, EXPRESS-AM22 will be put into operation.

On the 1st December, 2003, Mr. Alexander Duka was dismissed from his post of the RSCC Director General & CEO. Mr. Yuri Izmailov has been nominated for the post of Acting Director General & CEO of RSCC

Russian Satellite Communications Company - Russian National Satellite Communications Operator, and ChinaSatCom - Chinese National Satellite Communications Operator signed Agreement on Cooperation in deployment of satellite telemedicine network in China, Russia and South East Asia countries. The occasion took place in the course of the 3d "Russia - China" Communications and Informatization Subcommission on Preparation of Regular Meetings of the Heads of Russia and China Governments.
