The new Russian Express-AM3 (140 East) broadcasting & communications satellite - the fifth of the Express-AM series - is planned to be launched on 24 June 2005. The satellite was developed on order of RSCC to meet the tasks on establishing presidential and governmental mobile communications, providing the customers in Siberia, the Far East and Asia-Pacific with up-to-date and reliable satellite communications as well as with digital TV and radio broadcasting services.

The RSCC terrestrial infrastructure, inclusive 6 Space Communications Centers in the European part of Russia, Siberia and the Far East, the Shabolovka Technical Center in Moscow and the fiber optic digital network have been operating now in normal mode. Each RSCC facility is equipped with no-break power systems ensuring in case of power supply missing a high quality and reliability of space and ground communications and broadcasting channels established in the RSCC multi-application network.

On April 18, 2005 the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) started digital broadcasting of the all-Russian program package via the Express-3A satellite (11 West) in the course of implementing the program of a stepwise transferring the federal analog broadcasting to the digital one. At the first stage, the digital package includes Pervy Kanal - Vsemirnaya Set and RTR-Planeta and is being distributed across the Atlantic region. The package is intended for six programs, therefore in future TV and radio programs of state and private companies of Russia and the CIS countries interested in a global audience coverage are supposed to be included in it.

On March 24, 2005 the IV Session of the Russian-Chinese working group on satellite communications was arranged in Beijing (China) between the state-owned satellite communications operators RSCC (Russia) and ChinaSatCom (China). The sessions of satellite communications operators have been held routinely in the context of the official Russian-Chinese Commission on preparation of regular meetings of the Heads of governments of Russia and China.

March 30, 2005, cosmodrome Baikonur, Kazakhstan - The new Russian Express-AM2 communications satellite was successfully launched into orbit by Proton-K launch-vehicle with the DM accelerating propulsion system at 1.31 a.m. Moscow time (29/03/2005 22.31 GMT). The new Express-AM2 satellite will be placed into geostationary orbit at 80 E. In the beginning of July, upon completing in-orbit tests and the system performing check Express-AM2 will be put into operation as a part of RSCC in-orbit satellite constellation.

The launch of new Russian Express-AM2 communications satellite is scheduled on the 30th of March, 2005. The satellite will be orbited from cosmodrome Baikonur by Proton-K launch-vehicle with the DM accelerating propulsion system at 1.31 a.m. Moscow time (29/03/2005 22.31 GMT). Upon completing in-orbit tests and the system performing check Express-AM2 will be put into operation on GEO at 80 E as a part of RSCC in-orbit constellation.

RSCC continues analogue - to - digital conversion of federal TV&radio broadcasting

On the 16th February 2005, RSCC started All-Russian digital TV & Radio broadcasting via the new Express-AM1 (40E) satellite in the frame of the Federal stage-by-stage analogue-to-digital conversion program. Up to now the program package was distributed using the Express-A1R satellite. The digital package is packed in the RSCC's Shabolovka Technical Center. It consists of All-Russian TV & Radio programs "Pervy kanal", "Rossiya", "Kultura", "Radio Rossii", "Mayak", and "Yunost".
