In 1967 on the territory of the radio engineering range of the Moscow Energy Institute in Moscow region, a transmitting-receiving equipment was installed. The antenna mounted on the range was used to transmit the signal. In November 1967, the first test satellite connection with Vladivostok was established. The central television signal received from Ostankino was transmitted via the Molniya 1 satellite. It was the first step in developing the domestic satellite communications.
Later on, TV and radio signals were transmitted on a regular basis to Siberia and the Far East regions. Based on the SCC Bear Lakes’ technical facilities, the satellite communications department Orbita 1 was established (within the Union’s radio communications center). On June 1, 1995, the satellite communications department got the new status – the Satellite Communications Center Bear Lakes – a subsidiary of RSCC and became one of the largest teleports of Russia.
The management and team of RSCC send their greetings to the colleagues from the SCC Bear Lakes and wish them professional achievements, creative success, prosperity and health!
