On January 31, the Satellite Communications Center (SCC) Dubna, a branch of the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC), celebrates its 30th anniversary. SCC Dubna was commissioned in 1980 by the order of the Communications Minister of the SU as an Olympic object, which task was to provide the Olympic Games transmissions from Moscow to the countries of Europe and the Atlantic region.

At present, Dubna is the largest teleport of Russia and one of the largest in Europe. One of the most important and crucial task for Dubna is ensuring high-quality and uninterrupted operation of the governmental communications lines. One of the main business lines of SCC Dubna is establishing satellite communications channels (including VSAT networks) and digital TV broadcasting. TV broadcasting and news exchange are performed through the RSCC’ satellite distribution network providing for the digital TV signal transmission of the Russian state programs to Siberia and the Far East as well as through the satellite system Moskva-Globalnaya transmitting to Europe and Africa.

The western point of the Ground Communication System Monitoring and in-Orbit-Test Complex (CSM and IOT) for the Express-AM satellites amounting to the RSCC’ satellite constellation is located on the territory of Dubna SCC. On the territory of Dubna there are also CSM and IOT complexes for Eutelsat and Intelsat, world operators of satellite communications.
