RSCC provided digital broadcasting of federal programs over the Atlantic Region

On April 18, 2005 the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) started digital broadcasting of the all-Russian program package via the Express-3A satellite (11 West) in the course of implementing the program of a stepwise transferring the federal analog broadcasting to the digital one. At the first stage, the digital package includes Pervy Kanal - Vsemirnaya Set and RTR-Planeta and is being distributed across the Atlantic region. The package is intended for six programs, therefore in future TV and radio programs of state and private companies of Russia and the CIS countries interested in a global audience coverage are supposed to be included in it.
The Express-3A satellite (11 West) carries a special No6 transponder with improved powerful characteristics operating at present in the global mode and enabling digital broadcasting of international versions of all-Russian TV programs across the territory of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, the eastern part of North America.
Besides, the federal digital programs are practically available over the whole territory of the Russian Federation. The Express-AM1 (40 East) satellite provides for a stable coverage of the European part of Russia and the Ural. The Express-AM 11 (96.5 East) covers the territory of Siberia. Broadcasting across the Far East of Russia is provided through the Gorizont satellite (145 East).
The digital broadcasting is established according to the interdepartmental "Decision on a stepwise upgrading of the satellite distribution broadcasting networks Ekran, Moskva, Orbita, Moskva-Globalnaya on the digital technology basis". At present, the orbital satellite fleet and the ground facilities of RSCC are fully prepared to digital broadcasting across the whole territory of Russia.
