Russian Satellite Communications Co. and SYRUS SYSTEMS sign a contract for equipment delivery to deploy satellite multi-service communications network across Far Eastern Federal District.

Russian Satellite Communications Co. and SYRUS SYSTEMS have signed a contract for equipment delivery to implement the 1st phase of System Project relating to deployment of satellite multi-service communications network across Far Eastern Federal District ("The Project"). The Project was tailored by "Sweet" Co. as per the RSCC request.
SYRUS SYSTEMS is obligated to deliver some 1000 digital professional IRD-2600 digital satellite receivers produced by "Scopus Network Technologies" and remultiplexing equipment to generate a digital package of two federal TV channels (THE 1st NATIONAL TV CHANNEL and ROSSIYA CHANNEL), one regional TV program and two radio programs ("Mayak" and "Radio Russia"). The package is expected to include "Kul'tura" All-Russian TV channel and channels produced by non-state TV and radio broadcasters (up to 12 channels). IRD-2600 digital satellite receivers will be used to upgrade the receiving distribution network and to set up digital air broadcasting.
A success in the first phase of the Project will permit to transfer federal TV and radio programs from analog to digital format in the Far Eastern District. RSCC is planning to use the released satellite capacity to develop satellite broadband multi-service networks, which give access to telephony, data transmission, videoconferencing, Internet and etc.
