As already reported on May 17, 2010, the Express-AM1orbit inclination cannot be kept from April 24, 2010 due to a failure on this spacecraft. In order to clear up the current situation, we inform that at present RSCC does not plan to put the satellite out of operation or to replace it into another orbital position and intends to continue its operation in the 40 East orbital position.

The Express-AM1 satellite was delivered to GEO 40 East in October 30, 2004. The satellite was developed on order of the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) by NPO Prykladnaya Mechanica named after Academician Reshetnev (today ISS Reshetnev) together with the Japan company NEC/TOSHIBA Space Systems. The satellite carries 9 transponders in C-band (40 MHz), 18 transponders in Ku-band (54 MHz) and 1 transponder in L-band (0.5 MHz). Its operational life-time on GEO is designed of 10 years, the station keeping accuracy +/- 0.05 (N&S/E&W).

According to the Russian Federal Agency of Communications order No. 60-k dated 06 May 2010 Yuri Prokhorov has been appointed to the position of Director General of the Russian Satellite Communications Company. On 07 May 2010 Yuri Prokhorov proceeded to discharging of the duties of RSCC’ Director General.

In 1961, the Korolev prototype design bureau started research & development of the satellite Molniya-1, which had to transmit one TV program and to provide multi-channel telegraphic and telephonic communications. The General designer of the satellite was M.P. Kappanov. On April 23, 1961 the third in succession and the first successful launch of the soviet communications satellite Molniya-1 took place.

The Satellite Communications Center (SCC) Dubna was taken into operation in 1980 by the order of the Minister for Communications of the Soviet Union as an Olympic Object. Its purpose was to provide the Olympic Games transmissions from Moscow to the countries of Europe and the Atlantic region. At present, SCC Dubna is the largest teleport of Russia and one of the largest in Europe.

RSCC won the tender on providing communications services to the Federal Taxation Authority of the Russian Federation.

On December 30, 2009, the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) won the tender on providing communications services for the system of audio and video broadcasting, circular data distribution and video conferencing for Federal Taxation Authority of the Russian Federation (FTA of Russia) as well as the services of backing up the terrestrial communications channels in 2010, that was announced by the FTA of Russia.

Denis Pivnyuk, RSCC’ Deputy Director General, was affiliated into the Eutelsat’s Board of Directors.
